Leases and e-signing
The lease record, your own lease text as a template, and electronic signatures.
Long-term leases → Leases
New lease walks through four steps: Where (property and unit), Who (tenants), Terms (dates, move-in date, rent, deposit, due day, grace days, late fee) and Document (send for signature now, already signed on paper, or not yet). A lease that goes out for signature is a draft until everyone has signed; one signed on paper is active at once.
Lease templates are your own lease, pasted or uploaded as PDF or DOCX, for all properties or one. Rentalhand fills it from the lease record and collects signatures; it never supplies lease language. Pasted and DOCX templates take placeholders such as {{tenant_names}}, {{property_address}}, {{rent}}, {{start_date}} and {{landlord_name}}; any other {{word}} becomes a field the Send dialog asks for.
Send for signature renders the PDF with a signature page and emails each signer a private link. Signers confirm their email, read the PDF, type or draw a signature and accept the e-sign consent. When everyone has signed, the final PDF gets a certificate of completion page, and the lease becomes active if it was a draft.
- Paste or upload your lease under Lease templates once.
- Press New lease and follow the steps; add a missing unit or tenant in place.
- On the lease row: Sign as landlord, Resend to anyone still pending, Void to stop every link, PDF as sent and Download signed PDF.
- Edit lease shows the filled text; Edit this lease’s text changes the wording for this lease only.
- An uploaded PDF template is used as is, with the signature page added; to edit wording, paste the text instead.
- A decline voids the document and alerts you.
- Leases ending within 90 days are listed at the top of the page.
