Give access: a door code for a cleaner, contractor or inspector
A code on the smart lock for one visit or a window of days, texted to the person; pick someone you used before with one tap. Pro, with a smart lock.
Short-term stays → Properties → Give access on the property card
Give access puts a code on the property’s smart lock for someone who is not a guest: a one-off cleaner, a contractor, an inspector, or anyone else, for the window you set, optionally only during certain hours each day. The code is created on the lock right away, works only inside the window in the property’s timezone, and is texted or emailed to the person with the dates; if texting is not set up, the code shows on screen for you to pass on.
The Who row at the top lists the people you use most as one-tap chips: your cleaner from the Cleaning page, your vendor directory from Maintenance, approved Rentalhand cleaners, and anyone you gave a code to before. Tapping one fills in their name, mobile and email and the kind of visitor; you can still change anything. Someone new is typed once and remembered for next time. Everyone else is in the list under the chips.
- Press Give access on the property card (or Add on the Access list).
- Tap the person, or choose Someone new and type their name and mobile.
- Set the window: from and until, and tick "Only during certain hours each day" for a multi-day pass such as a contractor who comes mornings.
- Choose Text it to their mobile and/or Email it, then Create pass. Revoke it any time from the Access list; it expires by itself at the end of the window.
- Needs a smart lock linked to the property under Smart home (Pro, $7 per lock per month). Without one, the form says so and links to the property.
- Codes for guests and for the assigned turnover cleaner are made by themselves; Give access is for everyone else. Landlords use the same form from a long-term property for showings, agents and vendors (see Smart locks for your units).
